Hi everyone!
Two weeks ago saw the closure of our March Puppets and Mask Workshop, the second stage of our three-stage rehearsal for Far Away. The workshop, attended by our awesome and spontaneous participants and facilitators - Silei, Kelly, Teow Kwang, Jun Wei, Geraldine, Natalie, Aruna, Myra, Wei Jie and Michelle, lasted three Saturdays. On the 24th, three friends from SMU, Stephanie, Max and Sylvester, came down to join us as well. We constructed different puppets and masks out of everyday objects like socks, fabrics, plasticine, dough and balloons. We also explored different ways to perform with these objects and how they can be manipulated creatively to perform the script. In addition, we used the workshop as a platform to further develop the drafts which our scriptwriters began last November. It was indeed a very fruitful process. We shared ideas and built on each other's suggestions to work out exciting staging possibilities.
Finally, we would like to extend our gratitude to Raffles Institution for, once again, very kindly granting us a space to conduct the workshop. Do check out our workshop video!
Looking forward, the production will commence the actual construction of all the elements from set, puppets, masks to costumes and sound. Intensive rehearsals will begin in June 2012. Do check this space for more exciting updates!
